The Beauty And Function Will Follow

We have been carving into the hillsides at this home in Albemarle county, careful to save trees important to the family. The goal has been to increase usable outdoor square footage. It’s a tough time of year to work on a project of this size but our crew and the homeowners are looking forward to the end results.

Carving Out A Space

Virginia is fulling of rolling hills and breathtaking views. This home in Albemarle County is no exception. Windridge came in to help reclaim a little of that space for family friendly activities by installing some needed retaining walls. One of our biggest hardscaping projects of the year will be wrapping up soon. The owners of the property have been patient and kind as we worked through site difficulties so that the final results could be breath taking. The end of this year and early spring will be exciting when it comes to the landscaping. Native plants will provide a stunning addition to this beautiful property.

Battling The Elements

Well we’ve been charging forward on a project up at Wintergreen. The spring weather has not made it easy but we’re finally starting to see some really progress. The Old World Paver from Fredrick Block and Stone really works nicely in this setting.

Washington & Lee University

Our crew has been busy with a large landscaping project at Washington & Lee University. Cooling temperatures slow above ground growth, and moister soil encourages strong root development so it’s a perfect time for this project.

Rotunda Restoration

Thomas Jefferson is still overseeing this project.  There is a temporary access road to the right that will be removed soon so that we can continue on with installation of the brick quadrants. The sandstone edging has been a challenge to cut in the cold weather so we have been happy for the heat wave. We are now working on the sidewalks directly adjacent to the building and will be working towards the North Terrace.

The Rotunda

It is with deep respect and intention that we go to work everyday and our diligence has paid off.  We are installing a permeable brick terrace at the most historic site we have ever had the privilege of working at.  The front entrance to the Rotunda which was complete in 1826.  With Thomas Jefferson looking over our shoulder, let winter weather be on our side!
